Florida Book Award

Mary Lasker received many awards during her lifetime. And I’m thrilled her biography has garnered a big one! Crusade to Heal America has been awarded the 2024 Florida Book Award Bronze Medal. Selected from a pool of more than 170 entries, it’s quite an honor for this new Florida resident.

The Florida Book Awards were established in 2006 as an annual awards program to recognize, honor and celebrate the literature of Florida authors and books about Florida published in the previous year. The program is coordinated by the Florida State University Libraries, with the involvement of other library, literary, and cultural organizations.

Along with this year’s other recipients, I’ll be honored in Tallahassee at an award dinner on Thursday, April 25th, and at a breakfast open to the public on Friday, April 26th, at independent book store Midtown Reader. In addition, a copy of Crusade to Heal America will be placed in Florida State University’s permanent collection, as well as in the Florida governor’s mansion library.

Yes, I get giddy when exciting news like this springs up!
